This video once again shows why Jerome and Barack belong together on the ticket. Here, Senator Obama talks about the responsibility he has to win, and how we all have to work together to make that happen. The Bus knows more than a little bit about teamwork, and sacrificing for the greater good. Remember when he took a pay cut just to be able to stick around and help the Steelers win One for the Thumb? Could you picture Mitt Romney taking a break from swimming in his Scrooge McDuck style money-vault to help someone else? No.

Watching this video you could almost see the same words coming from Dan Rooney or Coach Tomlin. Teamwork matters, and failure is not an option. Join the Movement today.

We all know that Steeler Nation doesn’t just exist in and around Pittsburgh. Steeler fans can be found in all corners of the country - even across the world from Ireland to Iraq. While folks in Western PA can go to home games, eat at Jerome’s restaurant, and see Barack Obama at his many stops in the swing state, those of us in the farther corners of Steelers Nation are not so lucky.

Take me, for example. I live about half an hour from Foxboro Stadium. Not only am I surrounded by Patriots fans, but since all of New England is pretty much “safe” it’s unlikely that the Senator will be in my area between now and November.

Now, in the past this would mean no chances to see the Senator, shake his hand, or have him kiss my baby. But the Obama campaign is a movement to change politics, to bring us something new. They will not be constrained by the past, but they will bring innovative solutions to seemingly intractable problems.

This is why I’m proud to introduce yinz to the greatest innovation in political campaigning since the straw hat: Send Barack Your Baby.com.

But what are Jerome’s legislative accomplishments, you ask? Well, I refer to none other than drafting and passing several man laws including, but not limited to: the beer tuck rule, you poke it you own it, and a pilot program to find an alternative to the high-five.

There are several fine, outstanding leaders in the Democratic party that are often mentioned as potential running mates for Senator Obama. These range from almost all of his former primary rivals (although, lets face it, Mike Gravel has less of a chance of being chosen as Obama’s VP than Jerome Bettis does) to current Senators and Governors, even to independents (Bloomberg), Republicans (Hagel) and retired military (Clark).

As we already know, Jerome provides tremendous working-class appeal and brings a geographic advantage to Pennsylvania and Michigan. Clearly this should make him the most obvious choice, yet for some reason the so-called experts keep insisting on bandying about names like Indiana Senator Evan Bayh, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Kansas Governor Kathy Sebelius, and Virginia Senator Jim Webb.

So in the interests of fairness I created the following table that allows us to compare the accomplishments of each of these outstanding leaders, to determine which would be the best fit for the ticket:

Bettis

Bayh

Richardson

Sebelius

Webb

Rushing yards

13,662

?

0

0

0

Rushing TDs

91

?

0

0

0

Receiving yards

1,449

?

0

0

0

Receiving TDs

3

?

0

0

0

Pro-bowl appearances

6

0

0

0

0

Superbowl rings

1

0

0

0

0

Evan Bayh played football at St. Albans, but no record of his stats are available. Even if he did manage to rack up more career yards than the NFL’s 5th leading all-time rusher, he still doesn’t have a superbowl ring. So bye-bye Bayh

Bill Richardson played baseball in his fancy Massachusetts prep school. Baseball. That’s about a step and a half from playing croquet while eating watercress sandwiches. What the hell is watercress anyway? Something Bill Richardson doesn’t want you to know about, that’s what.

Kathy Sebelius could be given a pass on some of these crucial stats, given her gender and all. But then I found out that she’s from Cincinnati. Hey Cin-Sebelius, this one’s for you:

Jim Webb actually lettered in boxing while at Annapolis, and apparently fought Ollie North at one point. And while he doesn’t have a superbowl ring, he has a navy cross, a silver star, two bronze stars, and two purple hearts. But you know who else had purple hearts, bronze and silver stars? John Kerry. And we all remember how well that turned out.

So once again we can clearly see that Jerome Bettis is the best possible vice presidential running mate for Barack Obama. Now if only the biased mainstream media can stop pushing these Washington insiders on us and embrace real change. Oh sure, they use big fancy words like “electability”, “legislative accomplishments”, and “executive experience”. Well you know what I say to them?

Get on the bus!

Like many of you the very first time I heard Barack Obama speak - delivering the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention - I knew, I just knew that this man would be President. Sometimes things just click, and one word, one phrase, one image is all you need to know.

Likewise, in March of this year, I saw the following photo and once again just knew that Senator Obama had found the man who would be his perfect running mate.

Why is the best running back the perfect running mate?

He has an appeal to working-class voters.

He will deliver Pennsylvania.

He will deliver Michigan.

He can take the hard hits from McCain and Rove. And he’s proven he can hit back.

He’d scare the crap out of Mitt Romney.

That’s why this blog is dedicated to promoting an Obama/Bettis ticket in 2008.

Okay, so there’s a slight chance with The Bus on the ticket we’d lose Ohio, but do we really want those Browns and Bungles fans at our innauguration anyway?
